SunGard Availability Services Ranks as a Leader in Two Disaster Recovery Services Reports by Leading Independent Research Firm

WAYNE, Pa., Jan. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — SunGard Availability Services announces that Forrester Research, Inc., a leading research firm, has listed it among the top providers in two recent reports, The Forrester Wave™: Traditional Disaster Recovery Service Providers, Q1 2014, and The Forrester Wave™: Disaster-Recovery-As-A-Service Providers, Q1 2014.

In two separate first-quarter reports released January 17th, 2014, Forrester cited SunGard Availability Services as one of two providers that “lead the pack” among a dozen vendors offering DRaaS, and among “the top dogs” in delivering traditional disaster recovery services.

In the “The Forrester Wave™: Disaster-Recovery-As-A-Service Providers, Q1 2014” SunGard Availability Services is one of two vendors cited for excelling in current offering and strategies, and who offer “very flexible solutions that cover the entire resiliency spectrum and allow users to pick from an array of standardized offerings to ensure that their needs are met.” Additionally, the report lists Recover2Cloud, SunGard Availability Services’ recovery solution on enterprise-class cloud infrastructure, as a “highly flexible and scalable offering backed by the company’s decades of experience in the disaster recovery market.”

Forrester Senior Analyst Rachel A. Dines, who focuses on serving infrastructure and operations professionals, authored the two reports, which entailed an evaluation of 12 providers of DRaaS and six traditional disaster recovery providers.  In the DRaaS report, SunGard Availability Services received the second highest score among all vendors for its Market Presence, Current Offering and Strategy.

In discussing SunGard Availability Services’ industry presence, the report noted that in the past few years, the company has expanded its recovery services portfolio to include cloud-based recovery offerings, “making its solution suite very comprehensive, from recovery offerings to consulting to BCP [business-continuity plan] software.”

“I believe that Forrester has recognized the superior aspects of our Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service in an industry we pioneered,” said Andrew Stern, SunGard Availability Services CEO. “We remain committed to meet our clients’ changing needs and our Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service offering, Recover2Cloud, is an example of how our expertise ensures the high availability of our customers’ critical data and applications.
